Mrs. Salam Elia is the principal attorney and founder of Elia Law, PLLC, which is a boutique law firm specializing in commercial business and real estate transactions, with a focus on franchising and licensing. Mrs. Elia serves as an ICLE Author on the “Drafting Contracts” Chapter, has been named a 2022 Michigan Super Lawyer “Rising Star”, is a recipient of DBusiness Magazine’s Top Lawyer – 2024 and 2025, and was named by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as a “Michigan Go To Lawyer for Cannabis Law 2024”.
Prior to founding Elia Law, in 2017, Mrs. Elia worked at a law firm in Bloomfield Hills, specializing in municipal law, liquor licensing, zoning, and civil litigation. Mrs. Elia’s passion and reputation in business law grew stronger during this time, and she decided to focus her practice area on commercial businesses involving franchising/licensing. To be able to pursue her passions, she started her own law firm to be able to do so. Today, Elia Law, PLLC is proud to be recognized as top boutique law firm specializing in licensing/franchising law in the metropolitan-Detroit area.
Mrs. Elia graduated from Michigan State College of Law (formerly known as Detroit College of Law), where she received her Juris Doctorate with honors. In law school she focused on Securities Regulation and Business Enterprise, founded the Middle Eastern Students Association, interned for Federal Appellate Judge D. McKeague of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Attorney General Consumer Protection Division. Prior to law school, Ms. Elia received her bachelor’s degree with honors, double majoring in philosophy and political science from University of Michigan. Mrs. Elia is also a proud member of the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce and has previously served as a board member.
